About

About Epic Again

Growing up doesn’t mean growing out of imagination.

Epic Again is about finding my way back to the games, stories, hobbies, and ideas that got pushed toward the edges when adult life got crowded.

If you’ve ever looked at a paintbrush, game, notebook, or half-finished project and thought, “I’d really like to get back to that,” you’re in the right place.

The person behind the project

Hey, I’m Gary.

I’m a dad, lifelong gamer and science fiction and fantasy fan, returning hobbyist, roleplayer, and aspiring writer.

There was a time when gaming, roleplaying, reading, conventions, cosplay, and making things took up a much bigger part of my life. Then work, family, coaching, and the rest of adulthood gradually filled more of the calendar.

I never stopped liking those things. I just stopped making much room for them.

Epic Again is me changing that. I’m painting miniatures, getting back into games, building characters, writing stories, exploring imaginary worlds, and figuring out how creativity fits into a life that is already full.

That means sharing the useful discoveries, the experiments that work, the ones that don’t, and the occasional miniature that looked considerably better in my head.

I’m not writing from the finish line. I’m figuring this out from the middle of it and sharing what helps along the way.

Why Epic Again exists

Not everything you love needs to become something you’re good at.

Sometimes the point is simply that you enjoy doing it.

Not every hobby needs to become a side business. Not every character needs twenty pages of backstory. Not every miniature needs to look ready for a competition before you’re allowed to be proud of it.

Sometimes painting one detail, writing a paragraph, rolling some dice, or spending twenty minutes following an interesting idea is enough.

That’s especially true when the rest of life is already competing for the same handful of hours.

Epic Again is about making those small creative moments easier to start and more enjoyable once you’re there, with practical guides, honest hobby experiences, stories, conversations, and plenty of interesting rabbit holes to wander into.

Find Your Starting Point

Where my curiosity keeps wandering

There are a lot of ways to make life epic again.

You don’t need to care about every topic here. Find the door that looks interesting and open that one first.

Miniatures & Warhammer

Learning the hobby from the beginning

I’m getting into Warhammer and miniature painting without pretending I already know all the answers. Expect beginner questions, painting experiments, secondhand models, projects, mistakes, and whatever I learn before the next pot of paint mysteriously appears on my desk.

Roleplaying & characters

Build characters people can actually play with

Tabletop RPGs, Warcraft roleplay, character creation, motivations, conflicts, and the little details that make somebody feel like more than a collection of stats and a dramatic surname.

Creative life

Make room for creativity in a busy life

Realistic ways to start again when work, family, responsibilities, and tired evenings have other plans. No five-hour morning routine required.

Illustrated science fiction books and imaginative worlds
Stories & imagination

Follow the worlds that make you ask questions

Science fiction, fantasy, worldbuilding, storytelling, books, games, and original ideas. The interesting part is rarely just what happens. It’s usually the question that follows afterward.

What matters here

Creative. Welcoming. Actually fun.

A few simple ideas shape what I make and the kind of community I want Epic Again to become.

Creativity belongs to everyone

You don’t need special talent, perfect gear, or somebody else’s permission before you’re allowed to make things.

Life comes first

Family, work, rest, and responsibilities matter. Creativity should have a place in your life without demanding the entire thing.

Fun is a perfectly good reason

Paint the miniature. Play the game. Write the weird story. You don’t need to turn everything you enjoy into an achievement.

No gatekeeping required

Beginners, veterans, different interests, and different ways of enjoying a hobby are welcome. Curiosity makes a much better community than toxicity.

What you’ll find here

Useful things to try. Interesting things to get lost in.

Sometimes you need a practical next step. Sometimes you want to follow an idea halfway across the galaxy.

Epic Again has room for both.

You’ll find beginner-friendly guides, creative experiments, miniature projects, character-building resources, articles, podcast conversations, and eventually live sessions as that part of the project develops.
